Facebook Marketing Mistakes

General Tips

In every business, there is a constant climbing that is required to make the social media the perfect space for marketing services. And, there is always a scope of improvement to do things better. Keeping this in mind, there are a few terrible mistakes that can be avoided when marketing with Facebook. Check out below:

Overhype and Promotion

Today, people are using Facebook to connect to brands which offer value to them. So, you should share your awards and achievements, but within a restricted space. Never overdo it. If you cannot offer value to your fans, or provide them with the necessary information, you’re probably losing out on them.

If you turn out to be over-hyped, your likes might even turn to dislikes. So, focus on other ways to gain engaging visitors rather than flooding them with deals every other day.

Posting out of context

Some businesses fail to align their content with their brand which does nothing but confuses your audience. Your content, from text to visuals, should be a reflection of your brand.

Any out-of-context talk can be a turn-off for your visitors.

Too focused on selling

The focus of brands on social media marketing should be about creating a conversation and a community that promotes its lifestyle, not about spamming people with ads for their products. So many brands intend to push products in users’ faces on Facebook.

A social media user is always hungry for new and authentic content presented in different ways to hold his grip on your post. It shouldn’t be just about ads about selling the products; instead, the content should add value to the user.

Not appreciating negative feedback

Negative feedback is crucial for a brand’s success. No matter how successful a brand is, it cannot and should not ignore the negative feedback and comments that it receives. Even though they don’t point a finger at you directly, you should be aware that their prospects and customers are closely watching how you respond to their feedback. So if you don’t appreciate the harsh comments and don’t work on improving them, your competitors would surely do. They would latch on to your mistakes, rectify them and shine more bright.

Posting inconsistently

With the growing competition in the online marketing world, user engagement should take the front seat. Posting on Facebook should be done consistently with the right content strategy. It is recommended to post at least 1-2 times per day. Especially for the small businesses which are competing against the big super-power brands should take this seriously and strategize their marketing accordingly.

Begging for likes or engagement

There are brands that publish content and thereafter beg for likes on their content. But this isn’t the way it works. You need to gain the trust of your audience and publish content that automatically provokes them to like your post or engage with you.

The bitter truth is Facebook will actually bury such a post. Don’t post visuals or updates asking fans to like or comment, as this tells the world how desperate your brand is and your lack of a social media strategy.

Facebook marketing requires creativity, A/B testing, and constantly staying ahead of the latest changes from Facebook. For a brand to successfully reach, inspire and engage its audience, the above mistakes should be definitely avoided.
